USAID Organizes Workshop For Civil Society Organizations

As part of efforts to improve Government and civil society capacity to manage conflicts through prevention, mitigation and reconciliation with sectoral partners, the United States Agency International Development USAID has organized a two-day workshop for representatives of civil society organizations and relevant government organization in the state.

The workshop held at the American University of Nigeria, had thirty participants in attendance from civil society organization, traditional institutions, religious bodies, media practitioners and officials of some government agencies.

In his welcome address, the team lead of USAID, State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness State to State Activity Mr Maxwell Machill explained that the programme is a funded by the organization and coordinated by DAI Global in six States including Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Gombe and Sokoto.

Mr Machill said the aim of the state to state activity is to raise the level of accountability, transparency and effectiveness in the targeted states and their local governments.

In his presentation, the facilitator Mr Danjuma Mohammed covered various topics which include conflict, peace and violence among others.
