Suspected Hard drug dealers kill an NDLEA Official in Hong

An official of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA with the Adamawa State Command Mr Samuel Abba Birma known as Mbakwe has been killed while another colleague was seriously injured by a mob suspected to be hard drug dealers in Hong.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Adamawa State Command Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje who confirmed the incident, said investigation has commenced to identify and apprehend those behind the act.

He maintained that outcome of the investigation will be known to the public, and advised people in the state to stop taking the laws into their hands.

It was gathered that the NDLEA officials were on official assignment conveying some drug suspects arrested in Michika to Yola when they were attacked in Hong.

According to sources, on arriving Hong on Monday being the weekly market day, the suspects raised false alarm that they were kidnapped and called for help, which rose suspicious and blocking of the vehicle conveying the team.

It was gathered that efforts made by NDLEA officials in identifying themselves including presentation of their Staff identity card could not connive the mob which descended on them with dangerous weapons and killing one officer on spot and while his colleague  sustained serious injury.

The State Commandant of the NDLEA could not be reached as at the time of this report for his comment, but a competent source at the command headquarters described the incident as unfortunate.

Reacting, a brother of the deceased, Mr Ayuba Musa Birma called on the authorities to identify and prosecute perpetrators to serve as deterrent to others.

He described the deceased as a humble and hard working man who does not compromise on his official duties.
