Population, Housing Census Publicity Committee Inaugurated In Adamawa

The Commissioner Ministry of Information and Strategy Doctor Umar Garba Pella have stressed the need for Adamawa state citizens to support this year’s National Population and Housing Census.

He made the plea while inaugurating publicity Committee for this years’ head count, held at the conference hall Federal Secretariat Thursday in Yola.

Doctor Pella who is the Chairman of the publicity Committee said population Census is very important in  the development of every nation , noted that the committee while work tirelessly to make sure they sensitized the public on the to avail themselves to be counted to for planning.

The Commissioner expressed satisfaction for the exercise carried out by the State NPC office in the first and second pre-test, demarcation and trial census, said Adamawa state is ready to support NPC at all level so that credible data will be obtain.

In his remark, the Adamawa state NPC Federal Commissioner. Doctor Clifford Zira, explained that data obtain during this year’s census will be based on demographics and for development purpose at the grassroots.

He said the vision of the NPC is to produce not only credible, accurate, reliable and acceptance census data, but inclusive data that can be use by all segments of the society for planning and critical programme intervention that will meet international standard.

The federal Commissioner stated that the methodology and preparation for the census require advocacy, publicity and public enlightenment so as to make ensure all citizens are counted.

Earlier, the Adamawa state Director of NPC Alhaji Abubakar Hamaadama described the occasion as milestone effort to provide accurate data for planning and appraisal of government programmes and policies for sustainable development.

Among those inaugurated are Commissioner for Information and Strategy Doctor Umar Garba Pella as chairman, all General Managers of State owned media stations and state chairman NUJ as members.
