Nutrition Officer charges Women to breast feed their Babies from birth to 6 months

The Nutrition officer Adamawa state Primary Healthcare Agency, Mrs Ijagla mark Dewa has called on women to breast feed their babies from birth to six months exclusively.

Mrs Dewa gave the advised during a sensitization visit to yola Specialist Hospital and Demsawo Primary Healthcare facility as part of activities marking this year’s breast feeding week.

She emphasized that breast milk is beneficial to the child because it contains all the nutrients and percentage of water needed by the child.

The Nutrition officer added that breast feeding also plays a vital role on the wellbeing of mothers and reduce expenses on the family.

During the visit, the Director public Health, Doctor Laori celine presented gifts to some breast feeding mothers.

Responding, one  of the beneficiaries of the gift, Mallama Rukaiya Abubakar expressed appreciation of the donors and promised to breast feed her baby in an interview, the Assistant Director Community Health Services Adamawa State Primary Health Development Agency Hajiya Rashida Tahir called on father to support their wives.

She also restated the commitment of the Agency in advocating for exclusive breast feeding to pregnant women and lactating mothers in the state.

The world breast feeding week twenty -twenty two has as its theme ”step up for breast feeding       Education and support ” funded by the World Health Organization W.H.O and supported by the Adamawa state Ministry of Health  in collaboration with Primary Health Care Development Agency .
