Non-Governmental Organisation organizes Campaign against drug abuse in Yola Town

The Pastoral Resolve PARE in collaboration with British Council have organized campaign against drug abuse, covid-nineteen and round table dialogue on the role of youth in the maintenance of peace in the community.

In a welcome address, an official of PARE Comrade Muhammed Bello said the overall objectives of project are to prevent escalation of conflict and violence.

He stated that the Community Peace and safety Partnership CPSP platform in Yola South local government has succeeded in preventing major conflict between farmers and herders.

Similarly, the platform has averted what would have been a major religious violence in Yola district.

On covid-nineteen, Doctor Charles and Nuruddin sensitized the public on current situation of covid-nineteen in Yola South local government area.

In his presentation on dangers of drug abuse, Doctor Shehu Muhammad Dankolo said women are most affected by effect of drug abuse and lack of parental care and called for concerted effort to tackle the situation.

In his remarks, professor Abba Tahir of AUN Yola and Alhaji Adamu Bappa a stakeholder in Yola South harped on the need to involve traditional institutions in the scheme of things by given them constitutional roles.

Also speaking, member representing Yola South constituency in the Adamawa state House Of Assembly Kabiru Mijiyawa appreciated the organizers of the stakeholders meeting which he said is yielding positive result.

He said he will do the needful for the betterment of his constituency adding that the achievements he recorded so far included empowering over seven hundred persons by facilitating the securing of World Bank assisted project.

The lawmaker advised the organizers to extend the scope of the stakeholders invited in subsequent meeting.
In a  closing remarks,  the chairman Yola South local government Salihu Usman Malkohi represented by his vice Mr Kefas Elisha saluted  Pastoral Resolve and British Council for coming up with laudable projects that will foster peace and unity among people especially in his local government area.
