Islamic Scholar urges Muslims to respect dignity of neighborhood

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Saturday declared open the General Assembly Meeting and Presentation of fourteen forty two AH Islamic Calendar and Prayer Times organized by Muslim Council in Adamawa.

Speaking at the event, Governor Umaru Fintiri thanked the Muslims for its support and prayers, especially during Covid-nineteen pandemic and urged them to maintain the spirit, adding that the country cannot progress without fervent prayers.

He announced that the government has been steadfast in tackling the issue of kidnapping and other security threats in the state and appealed to people to stop taking laws into their hands especially the issue of Shilla boys in the state as government is on top of the situation.

The governor said his administration will continue to consolidate on good policies of successive administrations in Adamawa, saying that government has taken education of youths seriously and has been empowering them with entrepreneurial skills.

Governor Fintiri noted with concern how education sector has been neglected by the immediate past administration that failed to build a single classroom across the state and announced that his administration is building five thousand new classrooms in Adamawa.

In his welcome address, the State Chairman Muslim Council Alhaji Gambo Jika said the council is building a fifty million naira Information Communication ICT Centre at the state headquarters of the council and will soon establish a clinic in Yola.

He noted with appreciation the way and manner Governor Umaru Fintiri is handling some of the challenges in the state and thanked him for his support to the council.

The Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Abdurrahman Girei who is the Chairman Agga Islamic Centre, Yola represented by Alhaji Ahmed Song said the occasion is an annual event to deliberate on the activities of the Council within the year under review.

The Guest Speaker at the occasion, Professor Ibrahim Ahmed Magari Imam National Mosque, Abuja who spoke on Islamic Calendar and prayer times, called on Muslims to respect the dignity of the neighborhood during religious activities.

Highlight of the occasion was recitation of some verses from the Holy Qur’an.
