Adamawa Urban and Regional Planning Development Board have inaugurated Main Committee on Street Naming and House Numbering in the state.
Performing the ceremony at the conference Hall of the board in Yola, State Commissioner for f Housing and Urban Development Barrister Sunday Matthew Nyagra said the street naming and house numbering ease movement of people and connect streets and ensures quick response to alarms by security agencies as well as facilitate delivery of goods and services to all parts of urban areas among others.
The Commissioner who is the chairman of the occasion reiterated the commitment of the Fintiri-led- administration to urban development and appealed to relevant stakeholders to support the exercise.
Earlier, the General Manager of Adamawa State Urban and Regional Planning Development Board Town planner Alice Ambrose Gombe appreciated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for approving the formation of the committee on Streets Naming and House Numbering.
According to her, the exercise was last conducted in two thousand and three during the fiftieth anniversary of the late Lamido Adamawa Doctor Aliyu Mustapha, noting that street naming and house numbering cannot be overemphasized as it helps for easy identification of locations within the communities.
Another importance of the exercise, General Manager said enhances the revenue drive by relevant MDAs and makes the public feel the impact of the Government.
General Manager said the board will work assiduously towards the success of the exercise in the state.
In a vote of thanks, Permanent secretary Ministry of Housing and Urban Development Yola Engineer Idris Hamman Uba called for sensitization of the public on the importance of the exercise.
