Lamido Adamawa Doctor Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha has assured Laka people that Adamawa Emirate Council will continue to support them in all their activities.

He gave the assurance during Laka Annual Cultural festival held at Mahmud Ribadu Square Yola Saturday.

The Lamido who was represented by Sarkin Matasa Adamawa Barrister Aliyu Wakili Boya said Laka people have contributed a lot to socio-economic development as well as peaceful coexistence in Adamawa.

He added that Fombina Palace is always proud to associate with people who have respect to the traditional institution.

Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman of Laka Cultural Association Adamawa state chapter Mr Ayuba Umar Daniel who gave a brief history of laka people said the name Jimeta was derived from Laka word ‘’Jimta’’.

The chairman explained that the aim of the annual festival is to promote unity among Laka people.

He saluted Adamawa state Government and Adamawa Emirate Council for their support to the Association.

On his part, the chairman of the occasion Mr Calvin Yusuf Pelene said the annual cultural festival is unique and commended the organizers.

Speaking, the National president of Laka Cultural Association of Nigeria Alhaji Shuaibu Usman Leman pointed out that the event plays a vital role in connecting people and boasting economy hence the need for people to continue to support Laka people.

There were goodwill messages by the member representing Yola North in the Adamawa house of assembly Alhaji Hamidu Sajo Lekki and a Member Board of Trustees LAKA Cultural Association Adamawa Doctor Martins Bimba among others.

Highlight of the event were display of Laka cultural dishes and dance.
