Lami Fintiri Stresses Importance Of Tree Planting In Islam

The wife of the governor, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri has reminded people in Adamawa on the importance of tree planting stressing that in Islam, doing so serve as Sadakatul Jariya, attracting blessings even after death.
Hajiya Lami Fintiri made the reminder Wednesday while flagging off of tree planting organized by the Fresh Air pro-life Empowerment Foundation in collaboration with Women Foresters Foundation at the One Thousand Housing Estate, Malkohi Barracks Roads in Yola South.
The wife of the governor explained that should take a cue from Women Foresters Foundation by planting trees as a replacement for any tree those cut down.
She noted that tree planting will create the conducive environment and fight desert encouragement as well as address other ecological and erosion problems.
Hajya Lami Fintiri added that other benefits of tree planting include provision of shade, serving as windbreaker and preventing floods.
In a remark, the state Commissioner of Environment Malam Shu’aibu Dauda represented by the director planning in the Ministry Ibrahim Umar commended the wife of the governor for addressing a striking global environmental challenge through her foundation Fresh Air pro-life Empowerment Foundation.
He pointed out that the environment is being devastated by deforestation thereby aggravating the menace of climate change, adding that the choice of One Thousand Housing Estate, Malkohi for the tree planting exercise is remarkable considering it benefits to the setting.
Earlier in her address, the Chairperson Women Foresters Foundation in Adamawa Mrs. Monica Ali revealed that the foundation under the leadership of its Grand patron Hajiya Lami Fintiri is planting eight hundred seedlings which include Mango, guava, orange, cashew and black currant among others in Malkohi one thousand Housing Estate.
Contributing the Controller, Federal Ministry of Environment in the state, Hajiya Safiya Muhammad called for intensive sensitization of the people against cutting down of trees in the state.
In their separate presentations the Yola South Local government chairman and representative from the National Council of Women Society spoke extensively on causes of Deforestation and the effects.
Highlight of the event were staging of planting of tress and entertainment by dancers.
