IMWON Numan/Demsa Distributes Ramadan Basket To 83 Vulnerable Persons, Orphans

The Initiative for Muslim Women in Nigeria IMWON, Numan/Demsa branch has distributed Ramadan baskets to 83 vulnerable persons and orphans in the area.

The Amirah of the branch, Hajiya Zainab Ahmad in her welcome address which took place at Government Secondary School Numan Sunday said the gesture is part of their annual activities to put smiles on the faces of beneficiaries.

In her remarks, the State Deputy Amirah two of the organization, Hajiya Aisha Ilyasu Danburam called on the Muslim Ummah to always assist orphans and not restrict it only during the month of Ramadan.

She also enjoined those whose orphans are under their custody to ensure they enroll them in both Islamic and Western schools as well as acquire skills for self-reliance.

In his presentation, guest speaker, Professor Bello Idi who spoke extensively on ‘the importance of acquiring skills’, stressed the need for people regardless of age to acquire skills that would make a person independent.

He noted that lack of skills amongst the populace in the country resulted in underdevelopment, hence the need for all and sundry to learn skills and refrain from blaming leaders over their shortcomings.

Professor Idi urged people to cultivate the habit of motivation, and resilience, value themselves and take responsibility for success or failure in their endeavors, and always seek advice from experts for them to excel.

He then charged parents to instill discipline in their children so them to be responsible members of society.

Also in his presentation, Mallam Ibrahim Mu’azu attributed some challenges people are facing to neglecting vulnerable persons particularly orphans in society.

He explained that some calamities that befall communities are punishment is a sign that Allah is angry with some vices being perpetrated in the society which called for repentance.
