Governor Fintiri flag off rehabilitation and up-grading of Secondary Health Care facilities across the State

In line with his administration’s commitment to improving health care delivery to the people, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Wednesday in Mubi formally flagged off rehabilitation and up-grading of Secondary Health Care facilities across the State.
The project will commence with construction of the Out-Patient Department OPD, Maternity and Laboratory complexes as well as rehabilitation of theatre complex at Mubi General Hospital which will be completed in six months.
In his address at the event, Governor Umaru Fintiri explained that the up-grading of Mubi General Hospital has become more compelling in view of its strategic location as an International gateway.
The Governor added that the centre is the only secondary facility providing health care services to millions of the citizens in the entire Northern Zone of the State as well as the Southern part of Borno State.
According to him COVID-nineteen Pandemic has not only exposed the weakness of the Health infrastructure but also the gross inadequacy of facilities required to confront contemporary public challenges.
Governor Umaru Fintiri said the commitment of his administration to the provision of better schools will be in vain without commensurate provision and upgrading of Health care facilities.
He said it was one of the cardinal objectives of his Administration is to change the negative narrative of Health Care service delivery in the State through recruitment of frontline Health Personnel to man our Health facilities at various levels.
The Governor declared that in the days ahead, he will be engaged in various activities targeted at ensuring that Secondary Health facilities are empowered to provide unique services in accordance with International best practices.
Earlier in his remark, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Professor Abdullahi Isah said the hospital project came on board due to the population expansion in Mubi and called for support to the contractors for timely completion of work.
Contributing, the Executive Chairman, Mubi South local government Council, Alhaji Jingi Rufai who described health as wealth assured that they will do everything possible to protect the health facility.
In his goodwill message on behalf of communities in the area, the District Head of Mubi, Alhaji Aliyu Isah Ahmadu thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for flagging off the project and lauded him for executing people-oriented programmes across Adamawa.
