Governor Fintiri Lays foundation of 60 bed cottage Hospital in Shelleng

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Monday flagged off construction work on a new sixty-bed capacity cottage hospital in Shelleng with a pledge to also construct two kilometres of township road in Shelleng and complete the abandoned Kiri Shelleng road.

The Governor at a ceremony held in Shelleng during his one day official visit to the area said the event could not have come at a better time than now, when the World is grappling with the public Health challenge occasioned by COVID-nineteen Pandemic.

According to him, government felt challenged by the lack of a secondary healthcare facility in the area and coupled with the massive support his administration has been enjoying from the good and peace loving people of Shelleng, it decided to build a befitting Cottage Hospital for the community.

He revealed that government has purchased and distributed Hospital equipment to primary health care Facilities in the twenty one local government Areas in addition to construction of Health Facilities at Primary and Secondary Health Care levels in the state.

Governor Umaru Fintiri added that massive rehabilitation of existing health facilities in Adamawa is ongoing while his administration has embarked on establishment of a Health Insurance Scheme to make Health Care Services accessible by the people in the State.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Health, Professor Abdullahi Isa said the hospital project will cost government over one hundred and seventy nine million naira and therefore called on people of Shelleng to support the contractor.

There were goodwill messages by the Member of the State Assembly representing Shelleng, Alhaji Abubakar Isa, the Chairman Shelleng local government council Malam Danjuma Abdullahi and the Commissioner of Culture and Tourism Adamu Titus.

While in the area, Governor Umaru Fintiri inspected ongoing construction of the seventeen kilometres Shelleng Bakta rural road awarded by his administration where he expressed satisfaction with pace and quality of work.

Similarly, Governor Umaru Fintiri was also in the palace of Amna Shelleng where he told the royal father that his administration will soon renovate Government Secondary School Shelleng among other key projects for the development of the area.

Responding, Amna Shelleng Alhaji Abdullahi Isa Dason thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for his concern on welfare of the people of Shelleng and commended him on the improvement on security in the area.

He appealed to stakeholders in the area to unite and rally round the Governor whom he described as a man with a passion for development of the area and Adamawa as a whole.
