Dialogue Is Panacea For Conflict Resolution-Prof. Kyari

The Vice Chancellor, Nigeria Army University Biu Borno state Professor Kyari Mohammed has observed that dialogue is the best panacea for resolution of conflicts in the society.

Professor Kyari spoke at the zonal town with the theme meeting on “Imperative of National Dialogue for Unity, Security and Development” organized by a Non-governmental organization, Centre for Women and Adolescents Empowerment, Yola supported by Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development, Abuja held at Nadi International School Yola.

He explained that in Northern Ireland which experienced eight hundred years of conflict, which is the longest conflict in the world, this eventually resolved through dialogue.

Professor Mohammed pointed out that security challenges are peculiar to each geopolitical zone of the country due to it’s diversity, stressing that India, United States of America, Spain, Belgium among others have people of different religions, ethnicity and race but they have manage their diversity.

The Vice Chancellor stated that since the emergence of Boko group Haram in two thousand and nine the insurgents have killed many people and destroyed the livelihoods of over thirty million people in the Lake Chad region.

In his remark, the Director, Diplomacy and Democracy, Savannah Centre Abuja, Ambassador Felix Pwol said the Center intends to work with others to ensure that peace and tranquility prevail in the country.

In her welcome address, the founder, Centre for Women and Adolescents Empowerment Yola, Hajiya Asma’u Joda said the essence of the town hall meeting is to proffer workable solutions on National security and development challenges of the country.

In their separate remarks, General Managers of the Broadcast Stations in the State pledged to offer the platform for Stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise the public Nigeria.
