Commissioner of Police warns farmers, herders against taking law into their hands

The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adeyanyu has warned herders and farmers across Adamawa against taking the law into their hands especially in this season of harvest.

The Commissioner gave the warning in Maiha while interacting with religious and community leaders, farmer’s, herders and other relevant stakeholders in Maiha Local Government Area.

The Police and community engagement is a frame work initiated by the Adamawa State Command aimed at preventing herders-farmers crises across the State.

Mr Adeyanju also charged Police Officers and other law enforcement agents to perform their duties in accordance with standard operational Procedures of the force and other extant laws guiding their overall conduct.

He stated that any Police Officer Found behaving in a way and manner prejudicial to discipline would be sanctioned accordingly.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of Maiha local government council, Alhaji Idi Amin the District Heads of Sorau and Belel commended the Police Commissioner for initiating the forum and reiterated their commitment to ensuring peace in their areas.
