Class of 1987 GSS Mayo Belwa organises Speech and Prize given Day

Executive Secretary Adamawa state Post Primary School Management Board, Hajiya Maryam Umar has challenged Old Boys associations of Schools to contribute their Quarter to the development of their Almamata.

She gave the charge at the Speech and Prize Giving Day of Government Secondary School Mayo Belwa organised by set nineteen eighty-seven of the school.

Represented by the Director Monitoring of the board, Alhaji Ishaku Babayola, Hajiya Umar said time has come when the contribution of old boys is urgently needed in schools as government along cannot provide everything.

The Executive Secretary commended the class of nineteen eighty-seven of the school for their contribution and called on other alumni associations to emulate.

While urging principal and management of the school to continue working hard, Hajiya Maryam appealed to students to concentrate on their studies.

Earlier, the Principal of GSS Mayo Belwa Mallam Muhammad Mahmud Ali said the school was established in October nineteen seventy-six with seventy-two students has achieved tremendous success in the areas of academics.

He identified inadequate Hostels, security personnel and lack of computer centre among others as challenges facing the school.

In their goodwill messages, Adamawa State Commissioner of environment Shuaibu Audu represented by Yahuza Muhammad and a retired permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Hassan lauded set nineteen eighty-seven of the school for the initiative and urged them to sustain the tempo.

A Guest Speaker at the occasion, Mr Kenan Filiyaro who spoke on the Value of Education urged People to support the education of their children and wards for them to be responsible citizens.

In a Vote of Thanks, the President of Set nineteen eighty-seven Alhaji Hamza Babayola appreciated those who contributed to the success of the event and pledged that the association will complete the abandoned computer centre of the school before December this year.

Alhaji Mustapha Aliyu of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation ABC Yola is the Secretary General of set nineteen eighty-seven of the School.

Prizes and awards were presented to students and Teachers of the school as Cultural Dances added colour to the event.
