A non-governmental organization Society for Women and Girls Empowerment incollaboraion with EU-Act British council organized a community dialogue in Malkoi IDPs camp on the problems being faced by IDPs in the Camp.

The executive Director of society for women and girls empowerment laureta charce said the project was sponsored by EU-Act British council with the title”it is our concern project”.

She said the organization found out that the internally displaced Persons are facing challenges of domestic violence within the camp, sexual harassment, separation of couples in the camp, force marriage, complete dependent of IDPs on government and donors among others.

The executive Director said the aim of the diolgue is to fine solution to the problems being faced by IDPs adding that lack of empowerment is one of the major costs of the problems.

Similarly, the organization held a diologue meeting in Malkohi with the host community where issues such as out of school female community members end up as a sex workers, child labour after school hours, out of school children within IDP Community, discrimination of persons living with disability in the community among others.

In their response some members of the Host community appreciated the awareness created to them and promised to utilize the knowledge acquired.

Meanwhile, Kanya Abacha an IDP interviewed by ABC reporter appealed to local and state governments to provide them with land and farming tools for them to embark on farming so as to feed for themselves.

Also Halima Abdullahi called on NGOs and Government to empower their children for them to be self-reliant and be useful to the society.
