Health Budget Analysis, Tracking Training Taking Place In Adamawa

A Non-government Organization, Maigodiya Center for Youth Development with support from another group Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement, SCALE has organized a three-day health budget analysis and tracking training for its cluster members.

Held at Dantsoho Hotel Yola, the workshop drew participants from the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Nigeria Medical Association, and Civil Society Organizations from Adamawa and Taraba states.

In his address, Mr. Iliya Yohanna from strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement said SCALE is strengthening the financial management and advocacy capacity of the local civil society organizations across critical service delivery sectors.

He said they have seen the need for members to be equipped to enhance their work while urging participants to make good use of the knowledge acquired as SCALE hopes to see implementation and inputs.

Earlier in his welcome remark the Executive director of Maigodiya Center for Youth Development, Mr. Gabriel Youhg explained that the center has formed a cluster that has various Associations and Civil Society Organizations as members for the promotion of maternal and child health.

According to him the aim of the clusters is to help push improvements in the budget on maternal and child health services in Adamawa and Taraba to at least fifteen percent and improve budget performance to eighty percent in these areas.
Mr. Gabriel called on the participants to take advantage of the training to achieve the aim of the clusters.
The budget consultants at training, Mr. Vahyala Kwaha and Henry Omokhaye took participants on various topics which include what is budget, principles of budget preparation, budget calendar, health Budget, and scorecard development among others.

During the three-day training, participants were engaged in practical sessions, and presentations while certificates were presented to them.
