Adamawa Police boss charges people to be law abiding citizens

The Adamawa state Commissioner of Police Mr Olugbenga Adeyanju has called on law abiding citizens to work collectively in ensuring peace and security sustained in Adamawa state.

Mr Adeyanju made the call Wednesday during police-community engagement designed at addressing the farmers and herdsmen crisis held at the Police officer’s mess Jimeta.

The commissioner of police explained the purpose of the meeting is to brainstorm and ensure that prevailing peace is sustained in various communities in the state as the people approach harvest season.

He commanded people in the state for the relative peace and support being given to securities agencies and urged them to maintain the spirit.

Mr Adeyanju appealed to the local government chairmen to held similar meeting in their various areas in to end the of farmers and herdsmen crisis.

He harped on community policing stressing that security is everybody’s business which should not be left to security and government alone.

Speaking on behalf of the state Government the adviser to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on security, Commodore Sinebi Hungiapuko retired described dialogue as the best option in ending the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers in the country and Adamawa in particularly.

Also speaking the representative of Lamido Adamawa Galadima Adamawa said the problem at hand deserved multi-dimensional approach and modern strategy and declare the support of traditional rulers in that regard.

Contributing, the state chairmen of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza and his Muslim Council counterpart, Alhaji Gambo Jika separately pledged to continue championing the cause of peace.

There were various contributions by representatives of Tapital Pulluku, that of farmers, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Hama Bachama and the Association of local governments of Nigeria, among other stakeholders.
