Install CCTV Or Risk Closure- Adamawa State Govt To Hoteliers

The Adamawa state government has given marching orders to hoteliers in the state six weeks to install Close Circuit Television CCTV in their various hotels or risk closure.

Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta gave the directives Monday during a meeting with owners of hotels in the state held at government house Yola noted that the measure is to safeguard the lives of visitors.

She explained that the government acknowledges the contributions of hotels towards boosting the industry and revenue generation, but the government will not compromise the standard, noting that life of any person is sacrosanct to the government.

She said a committee will go round to ensure compliance within the six-month directive handed by the government.

The Deputy Governor said henceforth any person checking in or out of a hotel must be subjected to thorough screening to avert the reoccurrence of an incident where a woman was beheaded in a hotel last week.

Also speaking, the Chief Of Staff, Government House, Doctor Edgar Amos called on all hotel owners in the state to ensure they registered anyone lodging into their hotels for proper documentation.

Responding the state chairman of the National Association of Hotelians Mr  Samuel Aduata thanked the Adamawa State government and all the security agencies for their constant support and prompt response.

He said all members of the association will comply with government directives, and assured their support to Adamawa State government for the overall development of Adamawa State.

Among others who spoke at the meeting is the state PPRO, Superintendent of Police, Suleiman Yahya Nguroje.
