Three local hunters have been arrested by the Police in Adamawa for aiding kidnapping in Girei and Fufore Local Governments in the state.

Three local hunters have been arrested by the Police in Adamawa for aiding kidnapping in Girei and Fufore Local Governments in the state.

The Adamawa State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje in a statement said the suspects are Auwal Mohammed, Isa Umaru, and Rabiu Mohammed who have been terrorising residents of Girei, Pariya and Daware villages in Girei and Fufore local government areas.

He said the police had recovered one motorcycle, locally made pistols and other items from the suspects.

SP Nguroje said the three  members of the hunters association, attached to Tambajam and Tsigire Villages of Fufore and Song local government areas are collaborators of  the nefarious kidnapping activities going on in that axis.

He said investigation so far reveals that the suspects betrayed the trust reposed in them by the community members of protecting lives and properties, and went ahead supplying food items and other basic needs to kidnappers around that area.

The PPRO also said the Adamawa state Commissioner of Police has assured the government and good people of Adamawa state of the commands unrelenting effort in combating crime in the state.

He equally calls on the general public to report any suspicious movement around their neighbourhood to the nearest police station for necessary action.

The Commissioner of police while commending the gallant performance of the Division Police Officer DPO Girei and his men for making it difficult for such criminals to escape arrest.

He directed other Divisional police officers, operational Commanders and their supervisory Area Commanders to do same and dominate the public space by denying the criminals the opportunity to regroup anywhere within the state.
