Governor Fintiri expresses concern over porous borders in Adamawa.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Thursday observed with concern the porous and unofficial borders in Adamawa and charged the Nigeria Immigration Service to deploy adequate personnel to check the trend.

He stated this when he received in audience the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service alongside some service commanders on a courtesy call in the Government House, Yola.

The Governor noted that effective surveillance of the borders will check security breaches by foreigners who illegally intrude into the state through unofficial routes.

He urged the immigration service to put more efforts towards identifying the unofficial borders and secure the country so that foreigners will not get easy access in to the country.

Governor Umaru Fintiri stressed that his administration has changed the narratives in the security architecture of Adamawa and pledged that th state government will maintain its support to the service.

He commended the Comptroller General for introducing positive changes in the service that warrant extension of his service by the President.

Earlier in his remarks, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mohammed Babandede commended Governor Umaru Fintiri for developing Adamawa through infrastructure projects among others.

He intimated Governor Umaru Fintiri that he was in the state to commission Operations Base and Clinic of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Belel and Gurin for improved welfare of its personnel.

The Comptroller General warned staff against extorting money from the public while conducting their official duties assuring that the service will reward hardworking officers.

Highlight of the visit was presentation of souvenir to Governor Umaru Fintiri by the Comptroller General Mohammed Babandede.
