Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has denied the content of an audio clip circulating in social media that he threatened someone.

The Social media went viral Wednesday with claims that the Governor threatened one, Hussani Gambo, alias Nakura, for making uncomplimentary remarks about him.

Reacting in a statement on Thursday, Solomon Kumangar, the Director General, Media and Communications, Government House Yola, said the report was not correct.

He explained that the Governor is known for his humane nature and soft approach to issues adding that the governor was too busy with governance to descend to the level of issuing threats to individuals.

The statement advised Adamawa people to ignore those it described as determined agents of fake news bent on spreading false stories.

Mr Kumangar noted that the report was utter falsehood and disgraceful lies, pointing out it was the work of so-called social media agents of the opposition in Adamawa.

The statement maintained that the governor has publicly announced that his administration is open to constructive criticism.

It claimed that the audio was doctored as this was not the first time a governor’s voice will be doctored in Adamawa and Nigeria, since in this digital age, such antics are possible.

Mr Kumangar advised the general public to ignore such stories that are intended to mislead people and create unnecessary anxiety.
