FRSC Flag Off Operation Zero Tolerance Ember Month Campaign in Adamawa

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has called on the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC to redouble its efforts in sensitizing motorists on the need to drive with caution during the ember month period.

He made the call while flagging of Operation Zero Tolerance Ember Month Campaign organized by the FRSC in collaboration with Adamawa state ministry of Transportation held at Sunshine Express Motor Park Jimeta Monday.

Represented by the Commissioner of Transportation, Alhaji Mustapha Musa Jika, Governor Fintiri said global statistics showed that about one point three million people die annually as a result of road accident hence the need of collective effort in reducing rate of incident.

He pointed out that the state government will continue to support the commission in the state with vehicles and other logistics to ensure peace and stability in the state.

Governor Fintiri added that the state government will collaborate with FRSC to register all tricycles and motorcycles plying highway in order to boost government Internally generated revenue in the state.In his remark, Corps Mashal of the Federal Road Safety Corprs Doctor Boboye Oyeyemi represented by the Zonal Assistant Corps Marsha Mr P O Osadebamwen, noted that social and economic activities increased during the ember months resulting in high vehecular movement where many lives lost in the country.

He stated that proper arrangement has been concluded to ensure reduction in road crashes across the country.

The corps Marshal appealed to roads users always to abide by traffic rules of regulation and avoid night travelling for their safety and security.

Earlier in his welcome address, the State Sector Commandant of Federal Roads Safety Commission, Mr Utten I Boyi said ember month starts from September to the end of the year.

He pointed out that the theme for year`s campaign is “Maintain Safe Speed, Avoid Night Travelling and Enjoy Quality Road Experience” challenged drivers to avoid overloads, and other sharp practices while using the road.
