Executive Chairman of Adamawa state Universal Basic Education Board Says 80 schools are being renovated under a project financed by state Government

The Executive Chairman of Adamawa state Universal Basic Education Board ADSUBEB, Doctor Salihi Ateeku says eighty schools across Fufore and Guyuk local government areas are being renovated under a project financed by the state government and United Nation`s Children Fund.

Speaking in an interview in Yola, Doctor Ateeku disclosed that some of the projects have been completed while others have reached advanced stages of completion and declared that by the time the matching grant for twenty eighteen is exhausted, the basic education sector in the state will improve tremendously.

According to him after payment of counterpart funds, the state government had accessed the Universal Basic Education UBE emoluments for twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen and will soon receive that of twenty nineteen which will pave way for additional massive turn around in primary and junior secondary schools across the state.

The   Executive Chairman said State Universal Basic Education Board has commenced construction of a block of three classrooms and office in over three hundred schools, as well as renovation of classrooms and offices in four hundred schools in addition to construction of toilets in eighty seven schools.

Doctor Ateeku revealed that the board has also supplied about twenty thousand sets of tables, and chairs, in primary and junior secondary schools, supplied of computers and internet facilities in nine schools, constructed new library/and computer as well as administrative blocks in eleven schools with construction of perimeter fencing in ten schools.

He explained that  Governor Umaru Fintiri has already paid UBE counterpart funding for the twenty nineteen matching grant, while that of twenty- twenty is in the pipeline and expressed the hope that in the next three years, Adamawa will get beyond what the Governor has promised which is to provide of five thousand new classrooms across the State.

The Executive Chairman expressed worried that the past administration in Adamawa neglected the education sector especially basic education.

He also noted with concern lack of promotion for primary school teachers among other issues and assured them that in due course their problems will be addressed.

Doctor Ateeku called on the people to support and pray for Governor Umaru Fintiri so that Adamawa to forge ahead.
