The Coalition of Civil Societies Organizations, Education champion Network in Nigeria has appealed to the State Government to increase funding for Education to at least twenty twenty points five percent of the state budget in-line with commitment made by the federal government.

Hassana Shuiabu spoke on behalf of the five civil societies organizations in a press briefing held at Alheri Hotel Jimeta.

She said the Education champion network is a global network advocacy for girl child Education.

Hassan Shuiabu stated that Education manifesto was developed by civil society organizations in the State under the election education advocacy project being implemented by Ace charity, center LSD, the inclusion project, SCAAD initiative and LEDAP.

The purpose of the coalitions is to Ensure political candidates priorities education in their manifestos and after being elected.

She announced that record has shown that the standard of education has fallen and the rate of out of school children especially girl child does not give hope for the future of girls and people in the state.

Hassan stressed that out of twenty million out of school children in Nigeria, sixty percent of the figure is from the northeast Adamawa in inclusive.

She added that thirty point two percent of primary school age children are not enrolled in any school, thirty two points seven of girls of primary school age are out of school compared to twenty seven points seven of boys.

The coalition then called on the State Government to provide counterpart funding to access the universal basic education funds to allow for increase financing of education.

Others are provision of functional safe and clean water sanitation and hygiene facilities in schools in order to keep girls in school during their period.
