NEWSAN Urges Riverine Communities In Adamawa To Relocate

Communities residing in riverine areas in Adamawa state have been reminded on the need to relocate to safer ground to avert impending flood disaster.

The Adamawa State Coordinator, Society for Water and Sanitation, NEWSAN Mallam Abubakar Hamza gave the reminder when he led other officials to Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC to enlighten the citizenry on the disaster.

He particularly called on residents of Ganye, Mubi, Demsa, Jimeta, Mayo Belwa, Numan, Shelleng, and Song communities that may likely to be affected by the flood to hid the warning by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA that the communities may witness flood between Wednesday and Tuesday next week.

Other members of the delegation are Rakiya Tasi’u Secretary, Comrade Hassan Bapetel Environmental Officer, and Asma’u Joda Ex-offio.

The Society for Water and Sanitation, NEWSAN is a coordinating network of over three hundred Civil Society Organizations spread across the six geopolitical zones in the country with a mandate to ensure access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene facilities for all Nigerians.
