An NGO in Yola distributes cash, sanitary pads to patients in Specialist Hospital

A sociocultural organization, Adamawa Hikers Group has distributed cash and reusable sanitary pads to some patients in Specialist Hospital Yola.

The exercise had fifty beneficiaries presented with the items by the individual members of the group in the various wards visited.

Areas visited included ward one, five ‘A’ and ‘B’ paediatric surgical, nine and ward twelve female medical respectively.

Speaking in an interview, the founder and Chief Hiker, Mr. Lazarus Nalas Daniel  explained that they chose to visit hospital because that is where needy people abound most.

According to him, the group members contributed  and agreed to give four thousand naira each to the beneficiary patients.

Nalas Daniel pointed out that the group  was formed mainly for hiking, adventure and tourism among others.

While expressing joy with the grace given them by God to carry out the distribution exercise, Nalas called on government and other philanthropic organizations as well as wealthy individuals to wake up to such occasion.

He particularly called on government to use such group to touch the lives of the masses by taking the sponsorship of their subsequent charity work.

Corroborating, the elected prince of the group, Evangelist Shipemu Cletus Muryo, described the group’s action as worthwhile.

According him, while the group goes on adventure it is equally mindful of humanity hence the distribution exercise.

Shipemu who wished the patients speedy recovery  and called on religious leaders to always preach peace and oneness for the common good of all.

He identified ‘participatory action’ by any aspiring member as a means by which one can join the group.

Some of the beneficiaries Queen Michael who was attending to her grandchild and Mustafa Bashir who was attending to his son appreciated the group and called on such formations to emulate them.
