Adamawa Government renews commitment to boosting Agricultural activities

Adamawa state Government has renewed its commitment to boosting Agricultural activities for food security in the state.

The State Commissioner for Finance and Budget, Doctor Ishaya John Dabari stated this while declaring open a stakeholders Workshop for Facilitators and Desk Officers of Result Area Two On Increasing Food Security and Safe Functioning of the Food Supply Chains Project organized by the Adamawa state Fadama project held at Jokems Hotel Yola.

The Commissioner, who is the state chairman Care Steering Committee of the program, commended the Fadama project for the efforts at ensuring food security and urged Participants at the workshop to work hard for the success of the program in the state.

Represented by the state Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Mr Iliya James, he said Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has provided an enabling environment for the implementation of the program in Adamawa adding Government will continue its support to the Fadama project for positive results.

In a remark, the National Coordinator of Fadama Project, Doctor Abdulrahman Balarabe who was represented by Mrs Pusayo Otundo explained that the Result Area Two aspect of the Fadama Project is to mitigate the impacts of Covid-nineteen pandemic on food security for poor and vulnerable households as well as facilitate safe functioning of food supply chains.

He stressed the need to fast track the implementation of the program as farmers prepare for this year`s planting season.

The National Coordinator explained that the facilitators and Desk Officers under the program are key players and stressed need for them to be trained and equipped with relevant information and tools to ensure effective delivery of Result Area objectives.

Doctor Abdulrahman lauded Adamawa state government for the doggedness and commitment demonstrated in driving the Result Area aspect of the project.

Earlier, the Fadama Coordinator in Adamawa state, Doctor Stephen Mshelia explained that the aim of the workshop is to sensitize the front-line Implementers of the project to know the concepts and results of the program.

There were goodwill messages by representative from state Ministry of Agriculture, the World Bank, Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency PAWECA and that of Community and Social development Agency.
