Hong local government council has commenced the free distribution of mosquito nets to one hundred and forty two thousand, seven hundred and fifty households.

Speaking at the event held in Mijili, the council Chairman, Comrade James Pukuma charged beneficiaries in the local government to properly use the nets for the purpose intended.

He called on the people irrespective of age to use the nets according to guidelines as malaria attack has no respect for age.

While thanking, Adamawa State Government and the Catholic Relief Services, Comrade Pukama pledged to give necessary support for hitch free distribution of the nets.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Agency, Hong local government, Alhaji Adamu Pella represented by Mrs Esther Denham said the distribution which started Thursday will be carried out from house to house and last for two weeks.

He said the mode of distribution differed from previous exercises as Andriod phone will be used to determine the number of nets provided in each household and charged beneficiaries to efficiently use the nets.

In his remark, the Supervisory Councilor for Health in the area, Mr Dogara David reminded communities that anyone found misusing the nets will be dealt with stressing that intervention is to protect people from malaria.

In his goodwill message, representative of the District Head of Gaya reminded the people on the need to use the nets properly and avoid selling them.

Highpoint of the event was the demonstration on how to use the nets by the Council Chairman Comrade James Pukuma.
