Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All identifies prevailing poor situation of education to politicisation

The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All, CSACEFA has identified the prevailing poor situation of the education to politicization and inadequate funding by government and other stakeholders.

North East Coordinator of the body, Mallam Salihu Abba, who stated this in an interview against the background of the celebration of Global Action Week on Education, called for increase in funding and commitment by government.

Mallam Abba attributed the increase in out of school children and Almajiri to lack of commitment in the education sector leading to insecurity, religious and ethnic issues.

He said all hands must be on deck to check the prevailing situation pointing out that the body is in the forefront of campaign for the priotising the education sector.

Mallam Abba said government should increase funding for the education sector, adding that in twenty twenty two, seventeen percent was allocated to the education sector in Adamawa state, noted that released has fallen short of budgetary allocation.

Contributing the state Secretary of Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All, CSACEFA, Mr. John Manabete said the situation in Adamawa state is compounded by underfunding.

He explained that the Global Action Week on Education was to ensure transformative education summit held in September twenty twenty two is complied with to finance education.

Mr Manabete acknowledged the contributions of government to the education sector, noted that teachers should complement government efforts to improve the sector.

He decried the absence of gender policy on education and appealed for budget monitoring, advocacy on legislative as well as collaboration for improvement in the sector.

The theme for this year`s Global Action Week on Education is Decolonising education financing.
