National Council of Imams reveals plans to enlighten imams on peaceful co-existence

National Council of Imams Adamawa chapter has revealed plans to embark on statewide tour to enlighten Imams and followers ward levels on the need for peaceful coexistence and measures of preventing spread of COVID-nineteen.

The State Secretary of the Council, Sheikh Bappare Umaru Kem disclosed this when he led other state officials on a courtesy call on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Council Chamber Government House, Yola on Thursday.

Sheikh Kem said the enlightenment will help to equip Imams on how to carryout preachings to curb the menace of kidnapping, farmer-herder clash, Shila boys and coronavirus among other vices in Adamawa and called on the Governor to support them towards realizing the mission.

The State Secretary who narrated the history of the Council in Nigeria, said it was founded in nineteen ninety nine by the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs to enlighten Muslims on national issues and revealed that the group since then has been contributing to the development of the country.

He thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for appointing one of them, Malam Ali Mamman as Special Adviser to the Governor and reiterated their unflinching support and prayers for the unity and development of Adamawa and Nigeria as a whole.

Earlier in his remark, the State Chairman of the National Council of Imams, Sheikh Sufyan Liman assured Governor Umaru Fintiri of their total support and solidarity to enable him deliver the state from under development.

Responding, Governor Umaru Fintiri thanked the Council of Imams for supporting his administration with prayers and assured them of necessary support in carrying out the planned statewide enlightenment campaign.

The Governor saluted Imams in the state for their support in checking spread COVID-nineteen and vices in the state.
