UNICEF Partners Adamawa State Govt On Child Protection

In a landmark move to bolster child protection and well-being in Adamawa State, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has launched a partnership with the Adamawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and Adamawa State Polytechnic, Numan Campus.
The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the three parties at the Ministry of Women Affairs on Friday.
Mrs. Ladi Alabi, UNICEF’s Child Protection Specialist, explained that the Memorandum of Understanding seeks to achieve a collaborative between the Ministry of Women Affairs, Adamawa State Polytechnic, Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, and UNICEF, structured around a two-tier agreement that defines each party’s role in advancing child protection initiatives in the state.
Mrs. Alabi further outlined the role of each organization in child protection, emphasizing that the collaborative effort is essential for ensuring the best interests of the child in Adamawa State.
The UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Doctor Nuzhat Rafique, hailed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding as a significant milestone in ensuring the safety and security of children in Adamawa State.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Neido Kufulto, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Zainab Umar Adamu, commended UNICEF for the initiative and pledged the ministry’s commitment to support the program.
In their separate remarks, Doctor Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, Executive Chairman of Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, and Simnowa Ayuba, and Registrar, Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, welcomed the partnership, noting that it would boost child well-being, productivity, and human capital development in the state.
The partnership between UNICEF, the Adamawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and Adamawa State Polytechnic marks a significant step towards enhancing child protection and well-being in the state.
