Over 511 Rice farmers Train On Modern Farmers In Adamawa State

System of Rice Intensification, SRI and Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has trained 511 rice farmers in Adamawa State.
The one-day training which was held at Geriyo irrigation Jimeta, aimed at equipping farmers with modern techniques of farming to increase rice production and yields.
Speaking during the event, the Program Director of SRI 2030, Mr. James Dahingreen, explained that the initiative is to assist farmers to contribute to national food sufficiency.
In a remark, Consultant for SRI, Abdurahman Baba, revealed that over 2,500 farmers have so far been trained across Nigeria, with Adamawa State recording the highest number of beneficiaries.
He added that some farmers have already started enjoying the knowledge gained and advised farmers to minimize the use of chemical fertilizers, noting that excessive use of it could reduce crop productivity.
On his part, the State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Salihu Jenongso Misa, urged the trained farmers to fully utilize the knowledge and stepdown to others as part of efforts to promote agricultural growth across the state.
Adamawa State Government has reiterated its commitment to support farmers across the state so as to boost agricultural production.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor David Finchiwa Jatau, reiterated the state commitment to support farmers across the state so as to boost agricultural production.
He emphasizes that the development of agriculture is key to improving the country’s economy and ensuring food security for all citizens.
The Bauchi State Commissioner for Agriculture and other key stakeholders in the agricultural sector delivered goodwill messages.
