“Numan LGA Stakeholders Advocate for Inclusion of Community Leaders in Fight Against Gender-Based Violence”

Stakeholders in Numan local government area have advocated inclusiveness of community leaders in fight against gender based violence.

The people gave the indication during a meeting organized by a nongovernmental organization, Society for Women and Girls Child Empowerment SWOGE to review its activity in Numan local government

Speaking during the meeting Finance Officer of the organization, Mr Augustine Abraham said SWOGE has formed community surveillance team on how to identify cases of gender based violence across Numan local government.

He explained that the organization also conducted an enlightenment campaign to sensitize members of the public on dangers of gender based violence directed at them.

Mr Abraham also revealed that Balam area recorded high number case of gender based violence in the local government.

The Finance Officer commended stakeholders in Numan local government for their support to the organization toward achieving their desire objectives.

In his remark, Ward Head of Gamtatu two, Mr Somofiya Somdire described the meeting as timely and it will go along way in addressing menace of gender based violence in Numan local government.

He advised people to cultivate the habit of sensitising members of the public on how to mitigate the challenges.

On his part Secretary of People Living with disabilities Numan local government, Titus Ronan Musa commended Society for Women and Girls Child Empowerment for organizing the meeting and promised to stepdown the knowledge acquired to others.

He advocated stiffer punishment on gender based violence offenders.
