Journalists, Social Media Influencers Task On Immunization

The chairman Adamawa state Primary Health Care Development Agency has challenged journalists and social media influencers to play crucial role as stakeholders on the ongoing routine immunization campaign in the state.

Doctor Suleiman Bashir threw the challenge during a media dialogue organized by Adamawa state Primary Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with United Nations Children Education Fund UNICEF held at Duragi hotel Yola.

The chairman who explain that the exercise which is providing oral polio vaccination, maternal and newborn care, deworming, and other essential services was aimed at boosting immunity and strengthening resilience among children under five year old.

In a remark the director of Disease Control and Immunization at ASPHCDA, Doctor Jacob Vasumu, emphasized the importance of routine immunization in ensuring children develop strong resistance against the dreaded polio virus.

He revealed that in ensuring the campaign’s success, robust strategies have been put in place that includes strengthened advocacies, communication, and social mobilization.
In her presentation the National Emergency Operations Centre for Polio Eradication Professor Georgina Odaibo expressed gratitude to the Adamawa State government for its unwavering support and thanked the media and other stakeholders for their unflinching support.

Critical stakeholders attended the dialogue including Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Muslim Council and traditional leaders offered suggestions and the way forward to ensure a successful campaign.
