Governor Fintiri Presents Staff Of Office To Kumu Gombi

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has charged the Kumu one of Gombi Chiefdom, Aggrey Bechour Ali to collaborate with security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence in the Chiefdom.
The Governor gave the charge, while presenting the monarch with third class staff of office on Saturday at Gombi one primary school, described the struggle as a story of realistic and hope for a brighter future.
Governor Fintiri highlighted that as a historian, he is aware that the ethnic groups that made up the Gombi Chiefdom have great history, culture and tradition in their individual ranks.
According to him, it is therefore gratifying that they all come together and requested for a chiefdom which is firmly written in history and contemporary realities.
Governor Fintiri stressed that government policies and programmes have been guided by the desire to meet the needs of the people, as it had constructed roads and bridges, built hospitals and schools, continued to paying for WAEC and NECO examinations fees, empowered women and youths, regularly payment of Civil Servants and Pensioners all in the bid to uplift the living standards of the people.
He cautioned that the ban on cutting of trees for charcoal production and illegal mining are still firmly in place, urged traditional rulers and security agencies to ensure that those who violate the ban are apprehended and prosecuted.
He therefore urged all sons and daughters of Gombi: from Tawa to Garkida, Balhona to Fotta, indeed from all across Gombi Chiefdom, to support the Kumu Gombi and the chiefdom towards making it a model of peace, harmony, solidarity, progress and development.
In his goodwill message, the Lamido Adamawa, who was represented by the Galadima Adamawa Alhaji Mustafa Aminu, congratulated the new chief and charged him to be just and fair to his people, escribing governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri reign as a period that was filled with development.
In his acceptance speech, His Royal Majesty, Kumu one Gombi Chiefdom, Aggrey Bechour Ali said he was humbly honored to be installed as the first Kumu Gombi which is not just an elevation but a sacred trust bestowed kn him by the people.
He said he is aware of the responsibility as well as weight that comes with this title and therefore promised to uphold the dignity and integrity of his office to serve with honesty and transparency to always prioritise the welfare of the people.
The Kumu therefore extended his gratitude to the governor of the state and his supportive legislative arm for making the coronation event a reality.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of the organizing committee and commissioner of Agriculture, Professor David Jatau described the event as historic as this is the first time Gombi is having a chief, and that signified a new dawn in the chiefdom.
He urged Gombi people to remember their rich cultural traditions as they celebrate this milestone, appreciating the governor for his effort in liberating the people and releasing them from bondage.
He therefore prayed for God’s protection and wisdom for the Kumu I in running the affairs of the chiefdom as he called for the people to remain united and in peace with each other.
There were commendations and appreciations of the Fintiri led administration’s efforts in the development of the state by the numerous speakers at the event who equally advised the Chief to rule his people with justice, equity and inclusivity.
The oath of office and allegiance was administered on Kumu by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman.
