Communities in Yola North local government area have been charged to guard and protect public facilities in their domain.
The chairman of the council, Barrister Jibrin Ibrahim Jimeta gave the charge when Malamre community led by the Village of the area Mallam Suleiman Usman paid him a thanked you visit in his for refurbishing two public boreholes in the area.
He explained that public facilities need to be protected by benefitting communities for it to stand the test of time, and commended the Village of Malamre for setting up borehole maintenance committee that would ensure that all boreholes within the area are functional.
While expressing delight with the visit, the council chairman urged other communities in the local government to emulate Malamre community by setting committee that would protect public infrastructure.
Barrister Ibrahim Jimeta who pledged to continue executing people’s-oriented projects, solicited for prayers, cooperation and support from the public to enable him justify confidence repose on him by the electorates.
Earlier in his speech, the Village of Malamre, Mallam Suleiman Usman lauded the giants strides of the council chairman since assumption in office which impacted positively on the lives of people.
He explained that the refurbished boreholes have ease the problem of water supply in the community and pledged their unalloyed support and cooperation to the council.
Also speaking, Karewa ward Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Augustine Tadamari commended the council chairman for redeeming his campaign promises, stressing that PDP stakeholders in the ward were proud of laudable achievements of the council.
On his part, the Chairman Malamre Community Borehole Maintenance Committee, Gambo Ibrahim Kadala assured the Council Chairman that the committee will ensure protection of all boreholes within the community from vandalization.
