The second edition of Lunguda traditional wrestling competition and cultural display has took place in Guyuk Amidst fanfare on Saturday as part of effort by the council to promote Culture

Kwandi Nuguraya, His Royal Highness, Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda addressing the II while gathering described culture as an embodiment of peace that promotes development in all strata of life.
Kwandi Nuguraya then called on all sons and daughters of his kingdom to sustain their cultural heritage, noted that culture contributes to the promotion of peaceful coexistence and enhances family values and economic development.
Kwandi Nuguraya expressed concern over the current hardship and economic challenges facing the citizens, adding that it requires prayers and support to the Nation.
He thanked the Governor of Adamawa State Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for encouraging peaceful coexistence in the state.
Kwandi Nuguraya appreciated the Organizers of the programme especially youths for maturity understanding and exhibiting sportsmanship throughout the competition.
All the eleven District from Guyuk Local Government took part in the festival with Chikila District emerged the First position, followed by Banjiram district second position.
Among those that grace the occasion include Murum Mbula Alhamdu Gladson Teneke and Amna Shelleng Abdullah Isa Dashong.

The District Head of Gurin in the Fufiore local government area, Alhaji Abubakar Baba Gurin Abbo has cautioned titleholders to fear Allah, observe rules and regulations governing their office, and be loyal to traditional institutions and the government.

The Royal Father was speaking Saturday in his palace in Gurin when a delegation led by the General Manager, of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC Yola Mallam Dahiru Mohammed Payi paid him a thank-you visit over the conferment of a traditional title, Kakaaki Gurin on the Director Programmes of the Radio Station, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed Gurin.

Alhaji Abbo congratulated the new Kakaaki Gurin over the conferment of the title, saying it was already destined by Allah, and charged him to cooperate with other title holders in moving the district forward.

He thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and Lamido Adamawa, and Doctor Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa for approving district heads to confer the titles on illustrious sons and daughters in their respective domains as a measure to develop and sustain norms and culture of their people that are in tandem with the existing law of the land.

The District Head then enjoined people to re-examine their behaviors and make attitudinal changes to overcome the challenges of life faced by Nigerians.

The Royal Father, who prayed for peace in the country, noted that the situation is an indication that people have derailed from the path of Allah, stressing that repentance will bring relief to numerous challenges that bedeviled the country.

Earlier, the General Manager, of Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, ABC Yola, Mallam Dahiru Mohammed Payi said the visit is to express appreciation to the District head and his council for the conferment of the chieftaincy title of Kakaaki Gurin on the Director Programmes.

He then assured the continued loyalty to the District by the title holders.

It could be recalled that some years back, the State Chairman of RATTAWU, Alhaji Shehu Sa’ad Bolware, a staff of the ABC Yola was also conferred with the title of Dan Iyan Gurin.

Management and Staff of ABC Yola, relations, and friends of the celebrant accompanied the Kakaaki Gurin on the thank you visit.

The Adamawa State Investment Committee set up by state government has organized an export and investment summit at the conference hall of PAWECA.

The Committee has twenty-eight members with seven lining ministries that includes Commerce, Livestock, Environment and Entrepreneurship Development, Culture and Tourism, Mineral Resources and Agriculture.

Speaking during the summit, chairman of the committee who doubles as the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Doctor Ishaya Dabari, said the committee is also working to stimulate economic growth and create awareness among the citizenry in line with its mandate.

He added that the committee will develop legal framework and policy towards investment attraction in the state.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development, James Iliya, described the summit as timely and promised to justify the confidence repose on them.

On her part, Commissioner Ministry for Information and Strategy,  Neido Geoffrey Kofulto noted that Adamawa will benefit a lot through export and investment, create more job opportunities and increase the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.

Also speaking, the regional coordinator of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Pastor John Okirie, challenged committee members to work hard and sincerity to move the state to a greater height.

On his part, the Chief Operating Officer of Adamawa Agribusiness Support Programme ADAS-P Mallam Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai stressed the need to harness potentials endowed in the state.

The Member elect representing mayo belwa in the state Assembly Mahmud Musa kallamu says he will not betray the confidence and trust of the people of his constituency who voted him to represent them in the assembly.

Mahmud kallamu who stated this in an interview with Abc Yola reporter at the broadcasting House Thursday, explained that mayo belwa is a strong hold for PDP and commended the people of the area for making the right decision in voting the party.

He added that his constituency will continue to receive more dividends of democracy through making bills at the state Assembly that have direct bearing on the common man.

Speaking on the victory of Governor Ahmadu Umaru fintirin at the Apex court, kallamu congratulate him and urged people of Adamawa state to give him more surport in his efforts to move the Adamawa to a greater heights.

While assuring the people of mayo belwa of quality representation kallamu called for prayers and support from them adding that his doors will always be open for constructive advice and criticism as well.

He called on people in the state to be more security conscious and always pray for their leaders.

Participants at a town hall meeting with the themed “Building a Stronger Foundation, Exploring Synergies Between Judicial, Local Government, and Electoral Reform,” with a common goal: to chart a path for a more just and equitable state have called for full local government autonomy.
According to them this will empower them to better service their communities.
In a remark, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the project, Abdulhamid Modibbo, highlighted the challenges facing Nigeria’s democracy, including corruption, lack of transparency, and accountability.
He emphasized the need for reforms in key sectors to drive development.
The Guest speaker Mallam Saad Adamu, Executive Director of the Center for Peace, Dialogue and Good Governance, called for reforms in electoral acts, local governments, and the judiciary to better reflect the needs of citizens.
On the issue of Electoral Reform where Concerns were raised about issues such as voter registration, nomination forms, candidate screening, and the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Mallam Adamu called for an independent body to handle candidate screening to reduce the burden on INEC.

On Local Government Autonomy, Participants emphasized the need for full local government autonomy to empower them to better serve their communities.
Mr. Decland Desmond, a lecturer at Adamawa State University Mubi, and Mallam Tijjani Ubandoma, chairman of the Adamawa Coalition on Good Governance, both stressed the importance of proper implementation of any reforms that are documented.
Speaking on Judicial Reform, the Guest Speaker stressed the need for more efficient and accessible judiciary.
According to the stakeholders during the meeting, the policy reforms discussed at the town hall meeting will be presented to the Adamawa State House of Assembly for consideration.
Citizens were urged to track the progress of these reforms and advocate for their implementation.
The project is a collaboration between the Situation Room members in Adamawa State: Centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment, Centre for Health and Development in Africa, Women and Youth Empowerment for Advancement and Health Initiative with the support of Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO).

Adamawa state government has concluded arrangements to purchase ninety busses to boost the fleets of Adamawa Transport Company, operators of ‘Sunshine Express’ that will ply across the state.

Commissioner for Transport Development, Alhaji Musa Mahmud Kallamu revealed this in an interview with Newsmen in Yola, said purchase of the buses was captured in this year’s budget including re-designing of the transport system and water transportation.

Alhaji Kallamu added that government will provide additional buses to tertiary institutions in the state to support the students.

He explained that the provision of more buses is to reduce the hardship caused by removal of fuel subsidy.

The Commissioner also said the present administration will partner with private sector for smooth transportation system in the state.

On fresh Air-bus that ply Jimeta-Yola Road, the commissioner said government is working tirelessly to repair the broken-down vehicle for the benefit of masses.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa state government will redesign all motor parks across twenty-one local government areas as part of measures to secure the lives and properties of travellers.

The commissioner for Transport Development, Alhaji Musa Kallamu Mahmud who disclosed this explained that the measure will curtail activities of miscreants who loiter around motor parks to perpetrate crimes.

He said currently, the government is taking statistics of motor parks across the state with a view to give them a face lift and ensure proper usage by commercial motorists, which will generate more income to the government.

Alhaji Kallamu called on travellers to always patronize designated government approved motor parks for their safety and proper documentation of their travelling documents.

On water transportation, the Commissioner said the government has taken proactive measures to avert future boat mishaps as casualties were recorded last year by ensuring that operators in the water transportation sector adhere to guidelines set up by the government.

The Commissioner explained that the ministry is poised to better the lives of the citizenry in the transportation sector.

The General Manager, Adamawa Broadcasting Cooperation ABC Yola, Mallam Muhammad Dahiru Payi has charged members of ABC Yola Rice Farmers Cooperative Society Limited to unite and work together for the benefit of all.

He gave the charge when members of the association paid him a a courtesy visit in his office.

Mallam Payi expressed delight with the formation of the association, noted that work in synergy will move the association forward and called on them to support government policies and programmes.

The General Manager promised to support the association at all times.

Early in his remark leader the delegation who is also the chairman of the Association Mallam Aliyu Hammanjoda said the visit is to seek support from the Radio station, and to introduce officials to the management.

Mallam Hammanjoda said the aim of the association is to increase food production and provide jobs opportunities to Nigeria youths.

Meanwhile, new officials to run affairs of the society have been elected during the congress meeting held Thursday at the Broadcasting House Yola.

Those elected are Aliyu Hammanjoda as Chairman, Ishaka Donald Dedan, Vice Chairman, Blessing Ishaya Secretary and Kissinger Bukar Assistant Secretary.

Others are Glory Jonathan Financial Secretary, Yahaya Isa Njidda Treasurer, Mahmud Usman Biri, Public Relations Officer and Tukur Ilyasu as Provost.

The Adamawa State Chairman Fityanul Islam of Nigeria, Doctor Mohammed Ibrahim Modibbo Barhama has lauded the various programmes initiated by the current leadership of the Muslim Council, Yola South local government chapter.

Doctor Modibbo who is also the National Zonal Vice Chairman Northeast zone of Fityanul Islam of Nigeria stated this Thursday when officials of the Muslim Council, Yola South local government chapter led by the Chairman Engineer Mohammad Bashir Buba paid him a congratulatory visit in his residence in Yola on conferment of Doctorate Degree by a university in the Republic of Benin.

He noted that innovations brought by the present leadership have invigorated the council, an indication that the leadership of the council is teamwork work. He urged them to maintain the spirit for the growth of Islam.

Doctor Modibbo who was excited with the visit, explained it was the first group or organization that officially paid him such a visit and pledged to continue rendering selfless service to humanity.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Muslim Council, Yola South local government chapter, Engineer Mohammad Bashir Buba said they were at his residence to felicitate with him over the award conferred on him by the University, noting that his leadership has brought many changes in Fityanul Islam of Nigeria including transparency and accountability.

Engineer Bashir who is also the Wakili Makaranta Yola said the council was proud to be associated with the Fityanul Islam of Nigeria under the leadership of Alhaji Ibrahim Modibbo Barhama and prayed for him to earn more of such awards.

Two hundred facilitators across the twenty-one local government area have been trained on the usage of device to capture beneficiaries of Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer program.

Speaking at the training session, held at ADSUBEB Conference Hall in Jimeta, Unit Head of Conditional Cash Transfer, Mrs Mary Yawadi, from the Federal ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, said the facilitators are expected to enrolled more than one hundred thousand beneficiaries in Adamawa.

She said three months arrears of thirty-five thousand would be paid to poor and vulnerable households after they have been captured.

Mrs. Yawadi, explained that Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency, PAWECA will collate data was collated for the state government and forwarded to Abuja, for verification for subsequent payment which will commence from January next year.

A facilitator, Patience John, who is also the Training and Communication Officer of the program, said the training was to provide facilitators with adequate knowledge to assist them to captured the targeted beneficiaries.

She said fifteen million households nationwide will be captured in the second phase of the programmes to cushion effects of subsidy removal and COVID nineteen pandemic.

Facilitators, Aishatu Bamanga from Song and Donald Stephen from Girei pledged to step down the training and embark on sensitisation in the benefitting communities.
