Adamawa state government provides needed support to the education sector that would halt excuses by principals and teachers of not getting accurate data on their students.

Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta disclosed Tuesday while Flagging off the distribution of instructional materials to initiating principals of secondary schools across the twenty-one local governments in Adamawa State which took place in the premises of Post Primary Schools Management Board, Yola.

Farauta said Fintiri led administration accorded much priority to the education sector and called on the Principals to ensure that the instructional materials reach the targeted beneficiaries for utilization.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary Post Primary Schools Management Board Yola, Mr Samuel Wajereng appreciated Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for support to the education sector and called for the sustenance of the gesture.

Wajereng said the distribution of instructional materials is a yearly tradition of government to schools in the twenty-one local government and appeals to all initiating principals and teachers to reciprocate government gesture by being dedicated to their duties.

Items distributed include chalk, scheme of work, pens, A-4 papers, and report cards among others.

The Dadah Foundation for Educational Empowerment DAFEE, in partnership with the Forum of African Women Educationist FAWE, are working out reforms for the promotion and development of Tsangaya schools in Adamawa state.

The Executive Director, Dadah Foundation for Educational Empowerment DAFEE, Doctor Usman Ahmad Dadah who disclosed this to Journalists in the office of the Foundation in Yolde-Pate, Yola South local government area said, reforming the system will be in the context of the Nigeria Educational System.

He stated that the project is sponsored by PLAN International, noted that gone are the days when pupils of Tsangaya schools are left without having required education.

Doctor Ahmad Dadah further said the organization will continue with the enrolment of Adult learners to give them the opportunity to read and write, following the winding up of Second Chance Education for Out-of -School for Girls and Young Women programme in Adamawa state.

He stated that four thousand, five hundred Girls and Young Women have been enrolled in pilot local governments of Yola North, Gombi, Numan, Guyuk and Girei.

The Executive Director said the organization had provided Educational Support to the less privileged in the community, the Girl- Child, Persons with Disability, the Internality Displaced Parsons, Out of School Children, Orphans and Vulnerable Children.

The Executive Director enumerated some challenges faced by the organizations to include, lack of funds to carry out activities, rising costs of operations, and numerous societal demands among others.

He appreciated UN agencies in the state, INGOs, Development Partners, the Network of Adamawa NGOs, Critical Stakeholders; such as the Government agencies, Religious and Traditional Leaders, the Media among others for their support to the organization.

The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Doctor Boss Gida Mustapha has advised students of Government Secondary School GSS Hong in Adamawa State to shun all vices that can distract their studies.

He gave the advice Monday while addressing students of his Alma mata at the Assembly ground, and noted that absence from vices like taking hard drugs, cultism, and lesbianism will justify the investment of their parents.

The immediate past SGF noted that GSS Hong is a reservoir of intellectuals, stressing that the success of life was crafted at the school and charged the students to read hard to enable them to excel in their academic pursuits.

Doctor Mustapha who later commissioned science laboratories renovated by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation NDIC, commended the leadership of the Hong Old Students Association for facilitating the project.

He charged the management and students to ensure proper utilization of the facilities.

In his message, the Managing Director of NDIC, Hassan Bello represented by the state Controller of the organization Mr, Victor Egba said rehabilitation of the edifice is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

On their part, State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development Doctor Umar Garba Pella and representative of the District of Head Hong, Yaduma Hong Doctor Habu Magaji lauded the former SGF for bringing developmental projects to the community.

In his remarks, the President of the Hong Old Students Association HOSA, Doctor Nuhu Maksha said the association will ensure the standard of the school which was established in nineteen sixty-seven is maintained.

Earlier, the Principal of the School, Mr Believe Nicolas thanked the state government for the development taking place in the school.

The Federal College of Education, FCE Yola has distributed palliative of Indamie noddles to three thousand students of the college living in the hostels.
Speaking, during the distribution ceremony which was held at Jibril Aminu hall, Provost of the college, Doctor Mohammed Degereji said aimed of the palliative is cushion hardship faced by the students following the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.
Doctor Degrereji explained that the college have initiated students support program where staff of college make contributions for the program.
He added that over seven million naira was secured through the students support initiative program.
The provost noted that the college also provided vehicle that is conveying staff and students of the college from Yola to Jimeta at free charges.
Doctor Degreji saluted lectures and staff of the college for their efforts toward the success of the program and called on students of FCE Yola to desist from any form of exams malpractice and other vices.
In his remark, Register of institution, Gidado Ahmed commended the provost for initiating the laudable program and urged him to maintain the posture.
In their separate remarks, Dean of School of Sciences, Doctor Abubakar Bello, and Mrs Patrician Agu described the kind gesture as the first in Nigeria institution and urged others institutions to emulate.
They advised students of the college to be good ambassadors of the institution.
Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries of the palliative, Joy Angelow expressed appreciation to the management and staff of FCE Yola for their support and urged them to maintain the gesture.

The need to intergrade and improve Sangaya system of education have gotten a boost with the coming of INTPA project in Adamawa and Sokoto states.

This was disclosed during a round table media engagement organized by PLAN International with Funding from European Union held at Grand Pela Suits Abuja.

In his presentation during the media engagement, the Adamawa and Sokoto states coordinator of the project Mr Joseph Julius have stated the main objectives of INTPA project.

Also facilitating, Laban Onisimus Head of Social Development Programme PLAN International have rolled out what Tsangaya system of education is all about and the need to transform it.

In an interview Laban have stated what they intend to do.

The Kakaki Adamawa Emirate, Professor Abubakar Abba Tahir has called on government and stakeholders in the education sector in the county to change curriculum being used in schools.
He made the call during the speech and prize giving day of Aliyu Mustapha College Yola, organized by old student Association, class of two thousand and three.
Professor Abba Tahir who was the Guest speaker at the event explained that with digital technology thousands of jobs were been lost, hence need for government to review the curriculum of schools by introducing more entrepreneurial courses.
He noted that there is also need for government to build career monitoring centres in schools to enable graduating students learn entrepreneur skills of their choice.
Professor Tahir saluted the Old Boys Association for organizing the event and urged other sets to emulate them.
In his remark, Principal of Aliyu Mustapha College Yola, Umar Sanda expressed appreciation to the AMOSA students of college for providing infrastructural development in the college and urged them to maintain the tempo.

Adamawa State University Mubi has been ranked number thirteenth in the country in terms of academic excellence.

Secretary to the state Government who is also the outgoing chairman Governing board of the University Auwal D Tukur who disclosed this in a press briefing after the council valedictory session at the University liaison office in Yola said the rank is against the previous one of number seventy-seven.

He said the outgoing ninth council under his leadership has done a lot in the areas of infrastructural and academic development saying the institution now has one hundred professors to enhance academic activities in the University.

The outgoing Chairman noted that the council had been also able to addressed issues of Promotion, backlog of arrears and ensure prompt payment of allowances among others in the institution.

According to him, various projects are undergoing construction in the University, Courtesy of TEFUND including establishment of new campuses in the state, adding that the council had been able to hold two convocation ceremoniesw have not been for the past years in the University.

He however identified some challenges which include lack of consistent electricity and funding for more projects in the University.

Auwal Tukur lauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his uninterference in activities of the council saying is part of the successes recorded by the Council.

The SSG while acknowledging the cordial working relationship with the staff, Students and management of the campus, solicited for same to the new council if constituted to enable them succeed.

The Commisioner of Education and human capital development,mrs  Wilbina Jackson has lauded the effort of Governor Ahmadu fintiri for his free education policy that enable the world Bank to partner with State.

The Commisioner made the commendation Tuesday during the sensitization meeting of better education service delivery for all, additional financing transforming education system at state level project held at UBE board jimeta.

Wilbina Jackson who is the chairperson of steering the committee of Global partnership for education two directed teachers recruitment,  deployment and retention policy to ensure that the incentive of two thousand dollars per teachers goes only to teachers in rural areas.

She pointed out that the incentive will be used by the state government to better the welfare of  affected teachers.

Wilbina said the policy will  ensure teachers in rural areas have twenty five percent Increase of their basic salary adding that only teachers that are teaching in rural  schools will be promoted to head teachers.

The Commisioner stated that the aim of the policy is  to promote teachers willingness to be transferred to rural Schools and encouraged them to concentrate in  urban schools.

She then urged the school base management committee to report wanting teachers to the ministry to apply punitive measures on while reporting well behaved teachers to be rewarded.

Highlighting the objectives of the project,the project coordinator mr Chinda Michael Medugu said the project is to increase equitable delivery access for out of school children, improve literacy in focus States of Oyo, Adamawa,katsina to strengthen accountability for results in basic education in Nigeria.

Mr Chinda Michael medugu then thanked Governor Ahmadu fintiri for giving education top priority as they have been getting much intervention from various partners in the areas of education.

Also speaking Mr John Atenka added that the project purpose is to promote a shift in norms and perception which give access to schooling in the state and local government’s level, social mobilization for building resilience for sustainable education system.

He stressed that it is their hope that the message will be conveyed to parents, families traditional and communities Leaders.

There were Goodwill messages from the Executive chairman of universal basic education Doctor Salihee Ateeqhu and the chairman of  school base management committee.
