Resource Person urges Communities to use alternative dispute resolution in solving conflicts

Communities in Adamawa have been urged to use alternative dispute resolution in solving misunderstanding and conflicts in the society.

This is contained in a three Day training organised by Jaiz Ophans and Widows Initiative JOWI in collaboration with North East Development Commission on Strengthening Sulh alternative dispute resolution at the community level as a marchanism in promoting Women rights and participation in peace building process in Yola.
A resource Person during the training, Umar Ahmad who gave the charge encouraged the participants to resolve dispute amicably at Community level so as to avart occurrence of conflicts.
According to him, Sulh or alternative dispute resolution is a good merchanism to be use in solving conflicts for peace and tranquility among Community.
He implored the participants to be attentive to enable them acquire the knowledge required during the training so as well as step it down to other Communities.
Also speaking, the Programme Officer Jaiz Ophans and Widows Initiative JOWI, Abdulhamid Modibbo said the aim of the training is to equip communites with skills and knowledge on how to mitigate conflicts among Community members.
According to him, base on research carried out , the insurgency that ravaged North East started from community conflict, hence the need to tackle the menace from root.
He said the training will avail the Communities opportunity to create synagy between them with the law enforcement agency to resolve civil cases amicably.
The Programme Officer expalined that a referral form has been provided for the Communities to fill it when they come across criminal cases and refer it to Police for proper handling of the case.
He said one hundred participants were drawn from Girei and Song local government areas to be train on Civil cases dispute resolution in the state.
