ACOMIN urges Government to prioritize Health of It’s Citizens

Government at all levels have been called upon to prioritize Health of its citizens by taking swift and decisive action to improve living conditions as well as eliminate breeding grounds for Malaria- carrying mosquitos.

Adamawa state coordinator of a Non-Governmental Organization, ACOMIN, Mr Martins Madanga Banga made the call during a Media Brief on Global Fund Malaria Community-Led Monitoring Project Being Implemented by ACOMIN in Yola.

He also stressed need for increase in Government Budgetary allocation for Hospital infrastructure, equipment, and implement effective recruitment for productivity in the facilities.

Banga explained that as part of effort to address challenges of Malaria in Nigeria, ACOMIN is working with Catholic Relief Services on the ongoing Global Fund Malaria Grant to implement civil Society component.

According to him, the project is being implemented in eight local governments across Adamawa.

The Coordinator said ACOMIN is engaging Community Stakeholders to take ownership of health interventions particularly on Malaria service delivery.

State Project Officer of ACOMIN, Lauretta Charles said the Community-led initiative being implemented by the organization has yielded successes to include, Mass Increase in Awareness of free Global Fund Malaria Commodities, and increase in community ownership of health interventions among others.

She called on the Mass Media to enlighten public on need to ensure their environment is well kept, channel Stagnant water drainages during rainy season and enlighten Public on the proper use of Mosquito nets which will be distributed hopefully next week.

There was response from participants who are drawn from Networks for Civil Society Organizations that are working for Malaria, immunization and Nutrition.
