Adamawa WASH project manager identifies lack of Policy as challenges facing the project

The Adamawa state Programme Manager, Small town water supply WASH project, Engineer Sulaiman Shuibu has identified lack of enabling policy, indiscriminate drilling of boreholes and poor waste management system among others as challenges faced by the project in the state.
The state Small Town water supply ST WASH project is being implemented in Dumne, Sangasumi, Gangaraso and Vinikilan in the state.
The project being powered by the United States Agency for International Development, USAID and other partners in collaboration with the state government had organized a joint sector review meeting aimed at among others, improve alignment and consensus building among stakeholders as well as to understand the challenges of the programme and proffer solutions.
In his remark, the Deputy Chief of party ST Wash, Engineer Yahya Karaye lamented the non-assent to the policy on water sanitation and hygiene and called for concerted efforts to formalize it.

In his response, the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on the Word Bank Development Project, Mr Robert Ahijo said bureaucracy bottleneck is among the challenges for non-implementation and promised to intervene where possible for the success of the project in the state.

The meeting held at the American University of Nigeria, AUN Hotel Yola drew participants from Ministry of Water Resources, the State Water Board and Civil Society Organizations.
