NGO: ACOMIN stresses need for Government to increase funding for Malaria interventions

A non-governmental Organization, Under the aegis of Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition ACOMIN has stressed the need for Government to increase funding for Malaria interventions  and recruit more personnel especially Females to manage Health Facilities across Adamawa.

The State Program Manager of the project, Mrs Lauretta Charles made the call when she led other members of the organization on an advocacy visit to the chairman, House standing Committee on Health in Adamawa state House of Assembly who is also the member representing Yola North, Hamidu Sajo Lekki in his office in Yola.

She identified inadequate funding of Malaria interventions, inadequate number of females in public Health Facilities and irregular stocking Malaria management drug as well as over-billing of clients for Malaria treatment in some health Facilities as some of the challenges hampering Malaria interventions programmes in the state.

Mrs Lauretta said the ACOMIN is a National Network of Civil Society Organizations CSOs working on the prevention, treatment and mitigation of the impact of Malaria as well promotion of immunization and better Nutrition in Nigeria.

While soliciting support of the lawmaker in addressing some of the challenges facing the organization, the programme manager House of Assembly to fashion laws that will help in the fight against Malaria in the state.

Speaking separately, the Program Manager of CODI, Jafaru Iya, Abdulmumini Abubakar and the Executive Director, Pastorals Resolve, Doctor Aminu Ahmed Chiroma commended the lawmaker for his contributions and sought his support.

Responding, the chairman House Standing Committee on Health and Member representing Yola North in the Adamawa state House of Assembly, Alhaji Hamidu Sajo Lekki assured team of his support adding that the state government is committed to improving the standard of health care facilities in the state.
